SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, which is used to validate if an e-mail message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the forging of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this attribute for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses checks if it comes from an accredited server. When it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it look as if you're sending spam. This technique is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to use it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and to enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This feature provides you with the best level of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are managed elsewhere. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that is included with our semi-dedicated hosting, provides you with an extremely easy-to-use interface to activate the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host within your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. If the e-mails are handled by us and not by another supplier, you can raise the security level even more and activate an option for the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domains feature our MX records. This option provides you with better control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anyone counterfeiting your emails with the intention of spamming and scamming people. It's not applicable when only your website is hosted on our outstanding cloud web hosting platform, while your email addresses are managed by some other provider. If you aren't sure what options to choose, our technical support staff will help you 24/7.
